Daily Synbiotic

Seed Synbiotic Review

Seed currently sells the Daily Synbiotic which is the ultimate probiotic-prebiotic supplement. This product is the first of its kind to take a microbe-systems approach with strain-specific benefits. The Daily Synbiotic not only aids gastrointestinal function but it also promotes better skin health, heart health, gut immune function, gut barrier integrity, and micronutrient synthesis.

There are tons of factors which disrupt our inner microbiome and compromise our health. Common factors which can impact our personal microbiome include diet, stress, alcohol, lack of sleep, tobacco, pollution, and antibiotics. Thankfully, Seed has included the perfect combination of probiotic strains along with prebiotics to combat these issues.

The Daily Synbiotic can be used by adults ages 18 and over. This product is free of allergens, fillers, and preservatives and is also  100% vegan and can be taken by anyone regardless of their dietary concerns or preferences.

Types of Microorganisms

Microorganisms are extremely small organisms that can only be viewed at the microscopic level. These microbes come in either single-celled form or are found within colonies.

Microorganisms can be broken into 5 major groups: bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa, and viruses. Bacteria play a major role in respect to gut health and digestive processes.

Bacteria are associated with practically all major health functions throughout the human body, especially when it comes to digestion and all of its related processes. There are trillions of bacteria that exist within the gut and help
with major areas such as gut barrier integrity, promote digestion, and energy production. Additionally, bacteria are also essential for other essential areas of health including heart function, cognition, and skin health.

Probiotic Strains

Probiotics are referred to as good bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy and aid with digestion. Usually, probiotic products contain strains of bacteria from the genera Lactobacillus or Bifidobacterium.

Daily Synbiotic contains several strains of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium in its formulation. These strains are generally used to maintain a healthy digestive tract and are also used commonly by women to promote female health. Additionally, they improve immune function and prevent infection from hostile bacteria.

Probiotics can be found in foods such as yogurt, kimchi, kombucha, and some types of cheese. Those who do not consume enough probiotics from their food alone can take probiotic supplements to aid their diet.

Probiotic Blends

Seed combines 24 probiotic strains along with a new class of non-fermenting prebiotic compounds within Daily Synbiotic. The company takes a Microbe-Systems Approach in its overall design and includes the following unique blends within the formulation:

  • Digestive Health / Gastrointestinal Immunity / Gut Barrier Integrity Probiotic Blend
  • Dermatological Health Probiotic Blend
  • Cardiovascular Health Probiotic Blend
  • Micronutrient Synthesis Probiotic Blend
  • Microbiota-Accessible Prebioticsā„¢ [MAPs] Blend

The female version of Daily Synbiotic contains 24 probiotic strains and was designed to enhance skin health and boost the production of folate in women.

Seed for Men Ingredients

The male version of Daily Synbiotic has 20 probiotic strains and is specifically designed to help men reduce inflammatory processes and improve muscle recovery.

The following 4 strains of bacteria are unique to the male version of this product and target cardiovascular and digestive health issues.

  • Lactobacillus plantarum SD-LDL400-UK: Lowers LDL cholesterol
  • Bifidobacterium longum SD-BL4-IT: Improves cardiovascular health
  • Lactobacillus acidophilus SD-LA2-IT: Aids digestive health and gastrointestinal immunity
  • Streptococcus thermophilus SD-FP4-IT: Aids digestive health and gastrointestinal immunity

Prebiotics

Prebiotics are generally complex carbohydrates that microorganisms use as fuel. The most common forms of prebiotics include Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), and trans-galacto-oligosaccharides (TOS).

Seed has included Indian Pomegranate, Organic Scandinavian Chaga Mushroom extract, and Organic Scandinavian Pine as a part of its prebiotic blend in the Daily Synbiotic.

These plant-based prebiotic compounds are biotransformed by gut bacteria into beneficial metabolites for the body. Something that makes these ingredients unique is that they are non-fermentative, unlike FOS, GOS, and inulin.

Synbiotics

Products that contain a combination of probiotics and prebiotics are termed synbiotics. Synbiotics work to keep healthy bacteria alive and flourishing, especially in the GI tract.

Some probiotics have trouble surviving while passing through the intestinal tract so the use of prebiotics helps more of these probiotic bacteria to survive, thus making the probiotic more effective.

Seed Synbiotic Review

I decided to try out Seedā€™s Daily Synbiotic myself to see how it compared to other probiotic products Iā€™ve taken in the past. I was excited to see that this product contained a high variety of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus strains as well as a unique formulation of non-fermenting prebiotic compounds. I also valued the companyā€™s dedication to remaining environmentally sustainable for all of its clients worldwide.

After ordering Daily Synbiotic I received the product within 5 days. My package contained a mushroom-based, compostable tray which held a glass jar for my synbiotic capsules, a glass travel vial, and instructions on how to take the product. I was also given a 30 day refill compostable package.

Informational Packet

Seed Synbiotic Review

Rather than just include a short blurb on the label for instructions on how to take the product Seed went all out and provide a full manual on information pertaining to product use, their refill system, a guide to probiotics and prebiotics, and key health benefits.

Sweatshirt and Fanny Pack

Seed Synbiotic Review

Seed also included a bacteria sweatshirt and a science fanny-pack in my package. As someone who wears hoodies 24/7 and rarely carries a purse I appreciated the gifts they threw in!

Product Use

Seed Synbiotic Review

For the first 3 days I took 1 capsule daily in the morning before eating breakfast. Starting the 4th day I took 2 capsules daily each morning before eating.

Seed recommended to take Daily Synbiotic before eating since the probiotics in the product are vulnerable to the digestive process and would be affected by exposure to stomach acids and bile salts.

Side Effects

Seed states that some users experience side effects within the first two weeks of taking Daily Synbiotic such as gastrointestinal discomfort, abdominal tightness, mild nausea, changes in stool, or some form of an immediate physiological reaction.

Personally, I did not experience any unwanted side effects or an immediate reaction to the product. However, after taking the product for just a few days  I had less bloating around my abdominal region, felt that I could digest my food much better, and felt better all-around.

Areas of Improvement

While taking Daily Synbiotic I recorded whether or not I noticed any differences in the major areas of health that Seed said their product would greatly improve. The following are the major areas of health as well as my personal results with each.

Gastrointestinal Health and Constipation

Overall, I thought that Daily Synbiotic improved my gastrointestinal health. I noticed that within a few days I no longer experienced bloating or any gastrointestinal discomfort following eating. Additionally, I felt that I could more easily digest foods that normally give me gastric reflux such as apples, tomato sauce, and nuts. Previous sensitives to certain food and caffeine diminished and I felt much more in control of what I could consume.

Acne and Dermatological Health

I didnā€™t notice much of a difference in terms of dermatological health after taking Daily Probiotic except that my nails appeared to grow longer in a shorter amount of time than usual. However, Iā€™m sure that after taking this product for a few more months it would be easier to tell whether or not I had made progress in this area. Iā€™m interested to see how Daily Synbiotic will improve my hair and skin after using it for the next several months.

Cardiovascular Health

After taking this product for a few weeks I felt that I was able to run, swim, and row longer than before with less effort. My perceived rate of exertion completing certain activities definitely decreased and I found myself able to complete tasks for longer durations of time.

Metabolism and Energy Production

Daily Synbiotic definitely helped with my metabolism as well as my energy production. I felt more energetic throughout the day and I fatigued less easily. I also feel that my metabolism got a much needed boost and that I started to lean out more easily.

Oxidative Stress

I experienced less inflammation as well as a reduction in fatigue after taking Daily Synbiotic. It would take prolonged use of this product before noticing more health benefits in this area but Iā€™m certain that this synbiotic would aid any issue affected by oxidative stress.

Why Daily Synbiotic is Superior

Along with the major health benefits I experienced while taking Daily Synbiotic there are several other reasons why itā€™s superior to other products on the market.  Hereā€™s what stood out to me the most about Daily Synbiotic.

Strain Diversity

Itā€™s recommended to use a probiotic supplement which contains a minimum of 12 specific strains in order to adequately support proper microbiome balance. Daily Synbiotic gives twice the punch with 24 different strains of probiotics. Most other probiotic supplements commonly found in supermarkets contain as few as 1-3 strands which makes these products much less effective and not specific to aiding certain health issues.

Trademarked Substrains

Other probiotics generally contain generic forms of bacteria or even hide the name of their strains under the label of proprietary blend. Seed clearly lists out all of its specific strains in Daily Synbiotic and even publishes the research conducted on the strains it uses. Trademarked substrains allow users to know that the strains used were reviewed in a professional setting and that they were effective in treatment of certain health issues.

Colony Forming Units

Most probiotic supplements have their potency measured in CFUs and it is generally recommended to look for products which contain at least 50 billion CFUs. Contrary to the norm, Seed lists the potency of its Daily Synbiotic in AFUs and has a total of 53.6 billion AFUs.

CFUs refer to colony-forming units and indicate how many bacteria in a sample are able to divide and form colonies. Although this is the most common way to the list the concentration of probiotics within a product itā€™s not always the best measure of product quality. The best probiotic supplements focus on using specific strains which have been thoroughly studied in clinical studies instead of placing a high emphasis on quality.

The use of CFU has been greatly overused to sell products and oftentimes companies boast about billions and billions of CFUs they have when in reality most of these bacterial donā€™t remain viable following handling, transport, and extended shelf-life.

AFUs on the other hand  refer to Active Fluorescent Units. This measurement of colonies is measured with flow cytometry is able to measure viable cells much more accurately than CFU.

Female/Male-Specific Strains

I appreciate how Seed uses specific strains for improving key areas of health for women and men. Most other probiotics rely on the same generic strands which donā€™t target sex-specific health issues.

As a woman it’s crucial to use probiotics which promote the growth of good bacteria that ward off yeast infections, urogenital infections, and bacterial vaginosis. Most women will experience issues like these at least once in their lifetime so it’s important to incorporate female-specific probiotic strains on a daily basis in order to remain healthy.

No Refrigeration Required

Most high-quality probiotic products require refrigeration and diligent care. Daily Synbiotic didnā€™t require refrigeration so I never had to worry about my product going bad and I could store it along with my other daily supplements.

Environmentally-Friendly Packaging

Most other companies use tons of plastic in their containers as well as in packaging which leads to a lot of unnecessary waste. Seed cuts down on its waste production through its refill system and its use of recyclable and compostable materials.

Final Thoughts

I strongly recommend taking Daily Synbiotic and hold it in high regard. It’s the best synbiotic I’ve ever taken and it helped me to improve my health as a whole. Although the subscription is slightly expensive I would still prefer taking this product over other probiotics. If you’re looking for a product which combines the best probiotic strains available along with a unique prebiotic formulation Daily Synbiotic is the product for you.
