Garden of Life Dr. Formulated Probiotics Full Review & Opinion
Garden of Life Probiotics Ingredients
The Dr. Formulated Women’s probiotics contain a solid CFU count of 50 billion, which is a lot of healthy bacteria, so that’s a good sign. These bacteria come from 16 different probiotic strains, which is again, quite nice.
In terms of the list of ingredients, here it is:
- Lactobacillus acidophilus,
- Lactobacillus plantarum,
- Lactobacillus casei,
- Lactobacillus paracasei,
- Lactobacillus bulgaricus,
- Lactobacillus brevis,
- Lactobacillus reuteri,
- Lactobacillus salivarius,
- Lactobacillus fermentum,
- Lactobacillus gasseri,
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus,
- Bifidobacterium lactis,
- Bifidobacterium bifidum,
- Bifidobacterium breve,
- Bifidobacterium infantis,
- Bifidobacterium longum,
- Organic Prebiotic Fiber Blend,
- Organic Acacia Fiber
As you can see, this is no ordinary probiotic, as it also contains prebiotics and organic acacia fiber, which is absolutely incredible to see and probably also the reason why it’s rated as the best histamine intolerance probiotic.
In terms of my favorite strains, I’d have to go with Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus acidophilus. Let me explain why I like each one of those.
First off, Lactobacillus reuteri, I’m a big fan of this probiotic strain, because it’s naturally found in our skin and intestines (fun fact, it can also be found in breastmilk).
It’s a well studied probiotic strain and its benefits range from reducing the growth rate of bad bacteria, as well as improving the function of your immune system – which makes it one of the best probiotics for SIBO.
Second is Lactobacillus acidophilus, also a well known probiotic strain and if you’ve been reading any of my other probiotic reviews, you know how much passion I have for this strain.
In my opinion, it’s one of the very best strains for improving digestion in terms of preventing diarrhea, reducing gas and bloating and also providing relief for constipation.
Last but not least, is the Lactobacillus fermentum, this strain is especially beneficial for us ladies, as well as our lady parts. The strain is extremely beneficial at preventing yeast and harmful bacteria from colonizing in the vagina, there are also numerous other vaginal health benefits that come with this probiotic strain. It’s a great one.
Did you know that Garden of Life also makes one of the best kids probiotics?
Garden of Life Probiotic Recommended Dosage
In terms of the dosage I found that following the recommended one capsule per day with a bit of water, 30 minutes before breakfast, was the best regimen to follow.
I recommend you do the same.
Garden of Life Women’s Probiotic Benefits
As you might imagine, the number one benefit of this probiotic is the amazing effect it’ll have on your vaginal health.
Of course, your digestion will get better, as well, but as we all know all problems in the body originate in the gut and by improving your gut health you can expect a direct improvement in all the other areas of your health.
As my gut health was already quite good due to taking my regular (highly recommended) probiotic, I didn’t see a big difference in my digestion, however, my mom did say it helped her quite a big. She says this is one of the better probiotics for h pylori.
However I did see an improvement in how I felt down there, even though the benefits were not crazy, they were good enough to notice, but even though I didn’t see massive improvements many say that this is simply the best probiotic for traveling, as it’s just potent enough.
Dr. Formulated Probiotics for Women Side Effects and Allergies
In terms of side effects, my stomach hurt quite a bit for the first few days, I was also nauseous, had a cloudy mind and overall felt unenergetic – probably the worst side effects I’ve ever experienced with a probiotic.
Luckily, they went away after a few days and I started feeling better, I was a bit disappointed with the side effects as they were quite severe and strong – I never experienced this with my regular probiotic (and it’s more potent than this one)!
In terms of allergies, I’m happy to say that the Garden of Life Dr. Formulated Women’s Probiotic is free of gluten, dairy and soy, the capsules are vegetarian and the probiotic is non-GMO certified, which is absolutely brilliant.

Garden of Life Dr. Formulated Probiotics Review
Overall my experience with this product was quite good, the benefits that I noticed in regards to how I felt down there were quite ok and to be honest, I’d MAINLY recommend this product to you if you struggle with yeast or other vaginal infections.
I also really liked the fact that the capsules are very allergy friendly, BUT…
I really hated how I felt for the first few days, the side effects were a crazy experience that I was not ready for, I felt quite ill for the first few days and I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone…
Considering that my regular probiotic has 60 billion CFUs, which is 10 billion more and NEVER gives me the negative side effects, I’ll keep taking that one as my day to day probiotic, as it’s just so MUCH BETTER and doesn’t make me ILL.
