Elixa Probiotic Review

Recently there’s been a lot of talk about this Elixa 500 billion CFU probiotic and how incredible it is, but with the recent talk of the company using fake reviews and misinformation, I decided to investigate.

Elixa Probiotic Full Review & Opinion

On their site they offer 3 different packages in 6-day programs, which is a bit interesting since most probiotics advertise and require you to take them for at least 4 weeks to see the effects, anyway Elixa backs this up with the fact that their CFU is much higher than those other probiotics on the market.

Elixa Probiotic Ingredients

The Elixa probiotic is an 11 strain probiotic blend with 500 BILLION CFUs per dosage, which is quite crazy.

Other ingredients include potato starch as it helps with the probiotic absorption and also magnesium stearate, which is used to aid flow of powder.

Here’s a full list of all the probiotic ingredients:

  • Lactobacillus Plantarum,
  • Lactobacillus Rhamnosus,
  • Lactobacillus Reuteri,
  • Lactobacillus Acidophilus,
  • Lactobacillus Casei,
  • Lactobacillus Helveticus,
  • Lactobacillus Salivarius,
  • Bifidobacterium Bifidum,
  • Bifidobacterium Lactis,
  • Bifidobacterium Longum,
  • Bifidobacterium Breve

Out of the list of probiotic strains, there are 2 strains that I like in particular.

The first one is Lactobacillus Acidophilus, the reason why I’m a big fan of this one is because of its extremely beneficial effects on reversing IBS, reduction in bloating and gas, as well as a boost of immune function.

The second probiotic strain that I’m a big fan of is Bifidobacterium Bifidum, this is another probiotic strain that’s perfect for boosting the immune system and helping your body fight off colds or the flu. Apparently it’s also often included with probiotics for leaky gut.

Recommended dosage for Elixa Probiotic

Since the Elixa probiotic comes in these convenient, yet incredibly pricey ($40 for 6 days) packs, you only get 6 capsules per single pack, which is quite shocking.

The directions say to take one daily dose in the morning on an empty stomach for 6 days straight with plenty of water.

The 6-day program should be followed by people who want to achieve optimal gut health and the 12 day program should be followed, by people who “are serious about achieving the highest levels of gut health as fast as possible” – as suggested on the Elixa website…

Elixa Probiotic Results

I personally opted for the 6-day pack, as I already take my (preferred and recommended probiotic with 60 billion CFUs).

It was a funny experience taking these Elixa probiotics for 6 days, I don’t really know what I experienced, so let me describe my experience day by day.

Day 1

I took the capsule in the morning, fasted, with a bunch of water, I didn’t eat for the next 2 hours. About 4 hours later my stomach started rumbling like crazy, I had to rush to the toilet and had crazy diarrhea, this probably repeated about 3 times in a single day.

Day 2

I woke up completely drained and tired, but my stomach felt good – probably because it was completely empty. I felt quite hungry the entire day and as soon as I ate something I had to go to the toilet, again…

Day 3, 4 and 5

With each day that went by I started feeling better and better – in terms of not being bloated, but with each day I was also more and more hungry – because all the food went right through me. 🙁 Luckily by day 6 things normalized…

Day 6

Finally, the last day of this nightmare, diarrhea got a bit more manageable, but still didn’t go away. I felt incredibly dizzy the entire day and had a bad headache, I’m guessing it was due to the water loss caused by diarrhea. I was glad this was over…

Elixa Probiotics Side Effects and Allergies

As you read in the previous paragraph, my entire experience with Elixa was one huge side effect. Now I don’t know if this was normal or maybe it’s just my body, but I wouldn’t want (or dare) to go through that ever again, it was super draining for me and my body. :/

In terms of allergies, at least the Elixa probiotic is free of sugar, gluten, dairy and artificial coloring, it’s also 100% vegan.

Elixa Probiotic Review

To be 100% honest, now 1 week after taking the last dose of the Elixa probiotic (and immediately returning to my regular probiotic) I feel much much better, not because of the benefits I noticed from Elixa, but because my body is functioning again.

In my opinion, the probiotic dosage that Elixa contains is simply too much and the whole experience was a big nightmare for me, in fact, given the fact that other people are criticizing this probiotic too, I feel like I got scammed by purchasing these. 🙁

Overall, there are many BETTER options out there, that won’t cost you an arm and a leg and that won’t give you crazy side effects, but actually help improve your health.

Remember, our bodies are sensitive and we CANNOT expect life-changing results in 6-days like Elixa promises, it’s simply wrong and I’d much rather stick with my regular probiotic routine and experience benefits in a NATURAL way after a month or so instead of feeling like a zombie for 6 days straight…
