BIO K Plus Probiotic Full Review & Opinion

BIO-K Plus Probiotic Ingredients

The BIO-K Plus Probiotic has a CFU count of 12.5 billion coming from 3 different probiotic strains, which makes it one of the more popular travel probiotics.

The probiotic strains include:

  • L. Acidophilus,
  • L. Casei,
  • L. Rhamnosus.

These 3 strains are quite good as they’re extremely popular and well researched, let’s take a look at each one of those.

L. Acidophilus is a very popular strain because of the great benefits it has on your digestion, for me it always prevents diarrhea, bloating and gas. It’s also been shown to have positive effects on reversing IBS, as well as supporting gastrointestinal health and balancing out the body’s bacteria levels.

The second strain is Lactobacillus casei, which I’m actually not a big fan of. The reason is that Lactobacillus casei is incredibly aggressive at detoxing your gut and because of that it can yield to negative effects, such as also detoxing the good bacteria out of your gut, which is something I’m not particularly pleased about.

The third and final strain is L. Rhamnosus, which has been shown to help with many different areas including weight loss, reducing cravings, boosting the immune system, as well as relieving IBS symptoms – I like this strain!

Recommended dosage for BIO-K Plus Probiotic

The recommended daily dosage is a single capsule per day with a bit of water, as always the best time to take these is 30 minutes before breakfast.

One thing that I have to mention here is that it’s a bit surprising that the packaging only includes 15 capsules, which doesn’t even last for the entire month. So it’s kind of a bummer.

BIO-K Plus Probiotic Benefits

Coming from a 60 billion CFU probiotic with 16 strains (my prefered probiotic) I didn’t really see any dramatic benefits.

My digestion stayed well, I didn’t experience any gas or bloating, so I can definitely say that this probiotic works, however…

When switching to this probiotic (since it only has 3 probiotic strains) I did notice that my mood wasn’t as good, I also didn’t feel as energetic and I was feeling sleepy all the time – something that DOES NOT happy with my regular probiotic.

BIO-K Plus Probiotic Side Effects and Allergies

In terms of side effects I did experience a bit of stomach pain for the first few days, which is to be expected when switching probiotics, luckily the stomach pain went away rather quickly, so that’s always a good sign.

Regarding possible allergens in the BIO-K Plus probiotic, you shouldn’t worry about it as the product is 100% FREE of gluten, corn, wheat or yeast.
BUT, it’s not free of DAIRY, which is a downside, as many of us take probiotics to reverse our lactose intolerance, what a bummer…

BIO-K Plus Probiotic Review

Overall I think that the BIO-K Plus Probiotic is a great choice if you’re looking for a mild improvement in your digestion, but you’ll quickly start to realize its limitations.

The fact that the probiotic has only 3 probiotic strains will limit the benefits you experience, you won’t be more energetic or have a clearer mind like with other probiotics, but you’ll notice an improvement in your digestion.

It’s also a bit disappointing that this probiotic only has 15 capsules, which will only last you half a month when following the recommended dosage. Another downside is that this probiotic is quite pricey, with a cost of almost $1.5 per capsule – which is super expensive.

Overall, I can’t really recommend this probiotic as there are numerous other better choices out there that come with more strains, a higher CFU count and are also much more affordable.
