Leaky Gut is a terrible condition from which many of us have already experienced.
Leaky gut syndrome is caused by undigested proteins entering our bloodstream and causing an allergic reaction (we could call it). This then causes inflammation, which leads to numerous health problems like adrenal fatigue, eczema, IBS, depression, anxiety and a lowered ability to digest food and get our gut to absorb nutrients.
I’m not 100% sure if I had a leaky gut, since it’s very hard to test and confirm it, but I do know that I had bad skin, IBS and also depression, which are all caused by leaky gut.
Anyway, probiotics were a miracle for me, I didn’t experience results instantly, not for a few weeks actually, but when I did the results just kept getting better and better.
Not all probiotics on the market are equal though and I didn’t hit the jackpot with my first probiotic, but after years of testing here are the top 5 probiotics for leaky gut in my opinion.
BEST Probiotics for Leaky Gut Reviewed
The Physician’s Choice 60 Billion probiotic is number 1 for a reason, it’s by far my favorite probiotic of all time, as it totally cured me and gave me my life back.
Before finding the Physician’s Choice probiotic I had tried many, but it seemed the problem was that none of them were potent enough or had quite enough probiotic strains.
The Physician’s Choice has 10 probiotic strains totalling to 60 billion CFUs (healthy bacteria) per capsule, which is quite spectacular.
I also really like the fact that this probiotic is actually Physician approved and is 100% free of GMOs, in addition it comes at an incredibly affordable price point, which is another definite plus in my opinion.
The second probiotic, although not nearly as potent or effective as Physician’s Choice probiotic is BioSchwartz.
BioSchwartz has been around for a very long time and they have hundreds of reviews on their famous Advanced Strength Probiotic. The probiotic has 40 billion CFUs (healthy bacteria) per capsule coming from 4 different probiotic strains.
The probiotic strains include:
- Bifidobacterium lactis,
- Lactobacillus acidophilus,
- Lactobacillus plantarum,
- Lactobacillus paracasei
Out of the strains listed I’m a big fan of Lactobacillus acidophilus, as it’s a well researched probiotic strain and proven to be very beneficial for boosting the immune system and healing the gut.
Even though BioSchwartz is on the pricier side, as you need to take 2 capsules daily, it’s still a solid choice. For more info check out our BioSchwartz Probiotic Review.
The 3rd best probiotic for leaky gut is definitely Culturelle’s Daily probiotic, its unique advantage is that it comes with a proven prebiotic, inulin.
Prebiotics are essentially little helpers that help with the absorption of probiotics, making them far more efficient and beneficial to the body.
Culturelle’s Daily probiotic contains only a single strain, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, the strain has been proven to be effective with IBS symptoms, especially in children.
It’s also been proven to be a great probiotic strain for treating diarrhea caused by antibiotic consumption.
Another benefit of Culturelle is that their probiotic is quite affordable, but unfortunately, it does only contain that single probiotic strain, which I’m not really a fan of.
Even though all the probiotics listed above are vegan, this one goes even a step further.
The UP4 Adult probiotic is 100% certified vegan and like the rest of the probiotics, also 100% FREE of dairy, gluten and soy.
The UP4 daily comes with 5 billion CFUs (healthy bacteria) per capsule, coming from only 2 probiotic strains:
- Lactobacillus acidophilus
- Bifidobacterium longum
Even though both of these probiotic strains are quite good, I was a bit disappointed that the probiotic strain and CFU counts are super low, which makes me doubt about how potent this probiotic really is.
According to the positive reviews, people are seeing benefits from taking it though, so that’s all that matters. UP4 Review available here.
Hyperbiotics Pro 15 is a popular probiotic that contains 15 different probiotic strains and 5 billion CFUs per capsule, which is quite impressive.
The probiotic strains include:
- L. fermentum
- L. acidophilus
- L. casei
- B. longum
- B. lactis
- L. rhamnosus
- L. plantarum
- B. infantis
To get the promised results and heal your leaky gut you just need to take a single capsule per day, ideally before a meal with water.
Alongside this probiotic healing your leaky gut you can also expect improved mental clarity, more energy and a boost in your immune system. For the full Pro-15 Probiotic review click here.
Leaky Gut Probiotics Review – Conclusion
Overall it’s a great choice, even though it’s a bit more expensive than usual and maybe not as good value wise to the Physician’s Choice Probiotic.
