Compared to some other probiotics, the Nature Made Probiotic has actually shown some great results, at least according to the research that studied the strains in this probiotic.

With over 12 probiotic strains and 30 billion CFUs per serving this sounds like a great option, but does it work? Here’s my experience!

The fact that this probiotic contains over 14 billion cells and 8 strains of probiotics is quite excellent – however, keep in mind that the cell count is guaranteed only at the factory.

This is where we notice the first problem with this product, as also stated on their site…

As mentioned the Nature Made Digestive Probiotics Ultra Strength has 12 different probiotic strains, but MOST of the bacteria is only from 2 strains:
Lactobacillus plantarum (10 Billion CFU),
Bifidobacterium lactis (2 Billion CFU).

Unfortunately this is also all the data we have on which strains are actually in the product, given the fact that we only know the names of 4 out of 12 strains, doesn’t instill much trust in me…

But for the strains that we do know and are aware of, this is what I think…

For Lactobacillus plantarum, the research has shown several health benefits including improvements in Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Crohn’s Disease and the symptoms that go along with these (bloating, irregularity, and constipation)

Nature Made Probiotic Review and Thoughts

Let’s first start with what I liked.

The packaging and quality of the product are at a very high standard and that’s something I always appreciate.

I also really like that Nature Made Probiotic includes 2 of my favorite probiotic strains and has over 30 BILLION CFUs, which drastically improve the effectiveness of this product, the more healthy bacteria – the better!

The capsules are also shaped nicely and have a good shape, which makes them really easy to consume and get down with a glass of water.

Now to what I didn’t like…

First off, the product is a bit confusing – why would you package a product with 25 pills, if you’re supposed to take one per day.

I’d rather see an increased price and get 30 pills – enough for an entire month, than the odd 25.

Additionally, I’m still sceptical about the ingredients of the product – I know that it’s something people usually don’t dig into, but I always do…

And something smells fishy – why wouldn’t Nature Made share all the strains of probiotics out of the 12 listed? Sharing 4 is just not good enough…

Regarding the positives, I felt a lot less bloated and noticed an improvement in regularity about 4 days into the regimen.

Even though I ate a lot of bad food over the past week, I didn’t have any digestion problems or gas – which does usually happen if I don’t take probiotics – as bad as it sounds.

However these are about the only two benefits that I experienced and I was a bit let down, as I experience a lot more benefits with other probiotics, thus I cannot really say I was happy or impressed with the results and benefits I got from Nature Made Probiotics.

Even though I didn’t really get many benefits from taking the probiotics, luckily I also didn’t experience any side effects.

Thank god for that, because it’d be a real bummer to have to deal with side effects, after no real benefits…

Regarding allergies, I have some good news.

Nature Made Digestive Probiotics contain NO dairy, wheat, soy or any other GMOs, there’s also no color or artificial flavoring, which is a plus.

Let’s first start off with what I liked – out of everything, definitely the price point.

The price of PB8 Probiotic is only $12.59, this will last you about 2 months, as there are 120 capsules.

I also really liked the packaging and the fact that the PB8 has 8 different probiotic strains, which is more than the average 5.

For what I didn’t like, first off, no guarantees.

As mentioned, the count of the healthy bacteria is only assured at the factory, but given the fact that PB8 probiotics need to be stored in a refrigerator to maintain their quality – it kind of makes me doubt the effectiveness and potency of the product.

Another thing that bothered me is that the PB8 probiotic is marked as adults-only probiotic, thus I have to buy separate probiotics if I want to give them to my kids, which is unfortunate.

I’m not sure if it’s the time of year, but a few days after starting this regimen I noticed that my mind was way clearer and I could also focus for much longer than before, definitely a big plus.

PB8 Probiotic Side Effects and Allergies

Like with most cheaper probiotics I also experienced some side effects with PB 8 probiotic.

The first few days I had some belly cramps and loose stools, which weren’t the most encouraging in relation to how effective this product is.

Luckily a few days after the problems, the belly cramps stopped and my digestion improved – but I’m not sure it improved more than what I’m used to.

Regarding allergies, personally I’m allergic to lactose and all dairy in general, luckily the PB8 probiotic is very allergy friendly.

After taking the Accuflora Probiotics for over a month and going through multiple packets, here’s what I think.

First off, I was taking about 4 capsules daily, as suggested. Coming from other probiotics where you only need to take 1 dose per day, this just wasn’t ideal.

Pair that with the fact that the capsules are shaped like giant tablets and a bit hard to swallow and it’s just a recipe for disaster.

Another downfall with that is the fact that I always needed to set reminders in order to avoid forgetting to take them, it’s much more efficient when you only take a probiotic once per day.

And now – my biggest problem with these…

You’d think since you have to take 4 of these per day, that the effects would be quite amazing, well they weren’t.

Since the potency of them is only 1 billion CFUs (guaranteed only when they’re still in the factory), you really only get 4 billion CFUs per day, even if you’re taking the maximum dose.

This is probably the reason why I noticed no benefits at all from taking this probiotic.

However I did like that it has 5 highly beneficial strains, but then again, other probiotics have 12 or more.

If you’re serious about your health I wouldn’t recommend this product.

Before we answer the question, it’s important to note that it’s A LOT BETTER to take probiotics at any time, than not take them at all.

It can be easy to get annoyed about missing the perfect time to take them, but we would ask you to be kind to yourself and be proud of the fact that you remembered to take them at all. A lot of people totally forget about the importance of them.

To answer your question, the perfect time to take probiotics is 30 minutes before the first meal of the day on an empty stomach.

Why?

First let’s summarize what probiotics are, probiotics are a combination of a million different bacteria our gut needs to function properly and heal.

And by not taking probiotics at the right time, we can risk not getting much benefit out of them.

You see, our stomach’s primary role is to keep the bad bacteria out of our gut – this process starts right after our first meal – because the stomach needs to extract all the bad bacteria from the food we eat.

Unfortunately, with that, many of the good bacteria will be extracted with it, which is not ideal when supplementing with probiotics since our only goal is to improve the count of the good bacteria.

If you don’t have a chance to take the probiotics 30 minutes before your first meal, it’d be best to replace your first meal with something like oatmeal with milk.

This is because all dairy products naturally contribute to probiotic growth – especially the fatty dairy products as fat also supports the growth of beneficial bacteria.

How often should you take probiotics?

In regards to how often you should take probiotics, it’s recommended that you take one dose of probiotics 30 minutes before breakfast to get the maximum benefits.

Avoid Taking Probiotics with a Heavy Meal
